Jewish wedding in Morocco, 1839

Engraving by Adolphe Mouilleron (1820–1881), after a painting by French painter Eugène Delacroix (1798–1863)

The play with light and shadow makes this truly a masterpiece.

This is an original, not a copy!!!

During a trip in Morocco, Delacroix was led to a Jewish wedding. Eugene wrote down everything so that he would not miss anything when he was painting the picture.

The artist portrayed the guests gathered at the house sitting and standing. A girl dances in front of the musicians. In the doorway, the bride and groom. A young man with a tray is probably collecting money. From the top with the balconies watching with curiosity. The play with atmospheric light makes this litho a beauty for the eye.

Unique piece. It's possible to acquire a copy from this engraving for € 10 as long as the engraving is owned by the Bellydancemuseum.
